At Commerce Bank, we're committed to helping our customers achieve financial safety and success. As a Remittance Processing Specialist, you'll play a critical role in supporting our Lockbox Remittance Processing services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expedited collection and processing of different types of payments and correspondence for our customers and electronic documentation.
  • Act as primary liaison and point of escalation between internal clients, Systems Support, Information Technology, and management.
  • Create and update processing procedure documents to ensure they are kept up to date and accurate.
  • Review transactions and related documents and verify work processes to ensure completeness, accuracy, and conformance to established service levels and applicable policies and procedures.
  • Balance and reconcile deposits to department reports.
  • Deposit checks based on Image Cash Letter (ICL) totals that balance for file sent to transit.
  • Perform inventory control and supply ordering.
  • Lead workflow and ensure that department procedures and quality goals are met.
  • Process Protected Health Information (PHI) and card payments in compliance with HIPAA, Payment Card Industry (PCI) security standards, and all other applicable policies and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Ability to trouble shoot and escalate system issues to manager as needed.
  • Ability to serve as a mentor and train team members.
  • Ability to ask questions, identify opportunities for improvement, offer solutions to more complex issues, then retain information and apply details and logic to future situations.
  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values.
  • Advanced level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Ability to lift and move mail trays weighing up to 15 pounds.
  • Repetitive hand movement.
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours may be required.

Education & Experience:

  • Associate's degree in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 3+ years of payment processing or related experience in production environment experience required.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring team members preferred.
