Application Support Specialist

The Application Support Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the stability and performance of company application systems within a dynamic, multi-site, and high-availability environment. This position is ideal for individuals with a minimum of one year of experience in a support or analyst capacity, particularly in managing mission-critical SQL-based client-server ERP and operational software for both local and remote users. Candidates should be self-driven, detail-oriented, and possess exceptional documentation and communication abilities. A solid understanding of software functionality from end-to-end is essential, as this role focuses on support rather than development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the implementation, upgrades, and configuration of enterprise-wide and departmental software systems in collaboration with IT and business operations teams.
  • Ensure project completion within specified timelines and quality standards.
  • Work closely with team members to address application deployment, configuration, and integration challenges across IT and other departments.
  • Serve as a point of escalation and a resource for the Service Desk regarding application-related inquiries.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to manage after-hours escalations.
  • Investigate, document, and resolve application system errors and security concerns, collaborating with technical teams as necessary.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot SQL code and stored procedures associated with application functionality.
  • Assess new system changes, testing and implementing modifications to existing systems as required.
  • Document break/fix incidents and project-related activities within the help desk and project management systems.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Possess reliable transportation for potential travel to nearby offices and regional terminals.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proficient understanding of SQL syntax.
  • At least one year of experience in systems analysis or software support.
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Windows operating systems (Windows 10, Server 2012/2016).
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proven analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with document imaging and workflow management.
  • Knowledge of programming or scripting languages, including Excel Macros in VBA.
  • Familiarity with remote access platforms, particularly Citrix.
  • Experience in transportation logistics and familiarity with TMW Suite software.
