Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Construction Site Manager to oversee and manage on-site construction activities. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety and efficiency of our field crew and subcontractors. The ideal candidate will possess advanced skills in both interior and exterior carpentry, with a proven track record of executing projects within stringent tolerances. They will be instrumental in providing innovative solutions to various construction challenges, maintaining the high standards that Dowbuilt is recognized for.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to project timelines, proactively identifying and communicating any potential delays to the Project Manager.
  • Lead the finishing crew with a collaborative spirit, conducting regular performance evaluations and mentoring sessions.
  • Facilitate site inspections to assist subcontractors in preparing proposals and safety plans tailored to the site.
  • Uphold workplace standards and safety regulations, implementing disciplinary measures when necessary.
  • Work closely with the Project Team to develop accurate finish scope estimates and manage labor, materials, and subcontractor costs.
  • Oversee building layout and dimensional control, utilizing tools such as builder's levels and rotary laser levels.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent to forecast manpower needs and communicate any changes promptly.
  • Plan and communicate daily and weekly work scopes and expectations with the crew, utilizing project management tools.
  • Provide daily updates to the Superintendent regarding job progress and any pertinent information.
  • Ensure all team members are equipped with the necessary tools and equipment in accordance with company policies.
  • Regularly document field-generated information, including as-built drawings and measurements, in an organized manner.
  • Maintain quality standards and ensure protective measures for finished work are consistently applied.
  • Conduct regular meetings with reporting staff for employee development and performance reviews.
  • Foster positive relationships with neighbors and the community.
  • Maintain a constructive and solution-focused attitude at all times.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in carpentry, specifically in residential construction.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with diverse individuals.
  • Proven ability to inspire and motivate team members.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, Bluebeam, FieldWire, and Smartsheet.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment and promoting equity.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Completion of relevant safety training is required.
  • Advocate for safety practices and risk reduction.
  • Ability to follow directions, take notes, and perform assigned tasks effectively.
  • Active listening skills with a willingness to seek assistance and propose solutions.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a focus on creating a positive work environment.
