General Overview: The CNA Instructor is tasked with the creation and execution of the CNA program at the College, ensuring adherence to the New Jersey Curriculum for Nurse Aide Personnel in Long-Term Care Facilities, along with fulfilling specific grant program criteria as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine CNA course curricula in alignment with state mandates, assisting the College in securing program approval.
- Deliver the CNA training program utilizing the established curriculum while providing hands-on training in the clinical lab environment.
- Assess and document student progress through various evaluation methods, including testing and skills observation.
- Utilize knowledge of nursing fundamentals, care standards, and effective decision-making in educational activities for all levels of patient care personnel.
- Engage students in the learning process through interactive discussions and practical skills instruction.
- Set clear expectations for students, fostering an environment that encourages participation and accountability.
- Maintain comprehensive records for all students, including attendance, course requirements, and exam outcomes.
- Assist students with the registration process for the state CNA Licensing Exam.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Educational Qualifications:
Associate degree or higher in the nursing field is required. A registered professional nurse currently licensed by the NJ State Board of Nursing is essential. Completion of a training workshop provided by the NJ State Department of Health for Instructors/Evaluators is necessary to become a DOH Certified Nurse Aide Instructor.
Preferred Qualifications:
Current basic life support (BLS) certification is preferred. A minimum of three years of full-time clinical experience in a healthcare setting and two years of teaching experience are advantageous.

- Flexibility in schedule and willingness to travel to various campuses as required.
Physical Requirements:
This role typically involves working in a standard office or educational environment. Some physical effort may be required, including the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Limited exposure to physical risk is expected, with occasional travel necessary.
