Position Title: Red Hat Enterprise Linux System Administrator

Role Responsibilities:

The Red Hat Enterprise Linux System Administrator plays a vital role in supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) under the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The responsibilities include:

  • Providing engineering and technical guidance for problem definition, analysis, requirement development, and implementation for complex systems.
  • Advising on system development, enhancements, optimization, and support initiatives.
  • Conducting risk assessments and analyses using modeling and simulation techniques.
  • Collaborating on solutions for complex challenges.
  • Generating and applying innovative concepts for product or process improvement.
  • Utilizing engineering/scientific tools to integrate requirements and resolve technical issues.
  • Employing state-of-the-art simulation environments, laboratories, and test facilities.
  • Participating in specialized engineering or technology team activities.
  • Contributing to technical planning and providing guidance.
  • Delivering technical support to customers, including basic inquiries and troubleshooting.
  • Creating and managing break/fix tickets across various tiers.
  • Assisting in the testing and installation of system patches.
  • Managing hardware disposition needs, including asset sanitization and destruction.
  • Maintaining accurate inventory and stock planning.
  • Overseeing incident requests (IRs) and change requests (CRQs).
  • Adapting to new technologies and tight deadlines.
  • Responding to customer requirements through proactive engagement.
  • Meeting physical demands, including lifting up to 35 lbs and working in various positions.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • Education and experience combination: HS Diploma (or GED) with 2 years of general experience; or an Associate's degree with no prior experience.
  • Minimum of 2.5 years of relevant experience in business systems, operating systems, and servers.
  • Possession of a DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE).
  • Proficiency with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • Ability to obtain an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Familiarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux updates and installations.
  • Understanding of RHEL licensing and subscription provisioning.
  • Experience with storage devices and remote system mounting.
  • Command line proficiency and remote system access skills.
  • Bash scripting experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Possession of a valid passport or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Linux certification.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools and Windows.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory and Group Policies.
  • Knowledge of DHCP and DNS.
  • Experience with Ansible and administering Red Hat Linux environments.
  • Linux command line expertise.
  • Experience in writing tests for functionality verification.
  • Proficiency in writing and executing Ansible playbooks.
  • Log analysis experience.
  • Familiarity with VMware environments.
  • Recent experience with MDA or space-related projects.

This position offers a competitive salary range of $69,500 - $94,500 annually, based on experience, education, and relevant certifications.
