Position Summary
The Mammographer plays a crucial role in our imaging team, with responsibilities that include:
- Conducting screening and diagnostic mammograms
- Performing essential quality assurance checks on imaging equipment
- Assisting physicians during biopsy procedures as required
- Delivering exceptional patient care while prioritizing safety for both patients and staff
- Collaborating with physicians and their offices to ensure optimal patient care
Education & Certification
- Completion of an accredited 2 or 4-year program in Sonography recognized by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
- Registered Technologist in Mammography specialty with tomosynthesis qualifications.
- DEXA registry is necessary for Mammographer II roles.
- Stereotactic experience is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) training or retraining is mandatory during orientation before providing patient care. Current BLS certification must be maintained throughout employment.
- Maintenance of Registered Technologist status is required, including continuing medical education (CME) as mandated by the accrediting body.
- Completion of annual training as provided by the health system.
