Job Summary

The Charge Nurse assists the clinical manager and nursing director with the management of the unit, including participating in employee evaluations, staffing and scheduling, patient and preceptor assignments, oversight of resource utilization, and initiating and overseeing quality improvement activities.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a resource and provide information/education to unit staff
  • Involved in service recovery, promoting customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Role model of the professional nurse as exemplified by their presence on the unit, participation in nursing department initiatives, and organizational committee meetings
Areas of Focus

Level III Neonatal ICU, Transitional Nursery

Qualifications
  • Active Kentucky registered nurse license or compact license with privileges to work in Kentucky
  • Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Minimum one (1) year of patient care experience in specialty area
