Job SummaryThe Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in facilitating patient care by assisting physicians and nursing staff before, during, and after surgical procedures. This position requires a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail to ensure a sterile environment and provide the necessary instruments and supplies to the surgical team.
Key Responsibilities- Prepares rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment.
- Assists the surgical team during operative procedures.
- Opens sterile supplies and sets up for procedures.
- Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning.
- Monitors and restocks supplies.
- Drapes patients for surgical procedures.
- Maintains and cares for equipment and supplies.
- Documents maintenance and repairs.
- Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs.
- Consistently provides accurate and complete hand-off communication to any healthcare provider according to hospital policy.
- Attends 80% of all department meetings and reviews and initials all department minutes missed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program.
- < 1 year relevant experience.
- Certified Surgical Technologist with NBSTSA (The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting).
