Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team at North Chelmsford Public Schools. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with general education teachers and other specialists to provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities, ensuring their academic success and social development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, taking into account their unique needs and abilities.
  • Provide direct instruction to students with disabilities in various academic subjects, adapting curriculum and instructional strategies to meet their diverse needs.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to implement accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities in the general education setting, ensuring a seamless learning experience.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed, using data-driven decision making to inform teaching practices.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, providing them with updates and insights into their child's learning journey.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development and review of IEP goals and objectives, working collaboratively with the IEP team to ensure student success.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and services provided, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Massachusetts state licensure as a Special Education Teacher, with certification from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and students.
