Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a dedicated Underwriter II to join our Architects and Engineers (A&E) and Miscellaneous Professional Liability (MPL) team. This role presents a unique opportunity to engage in the underwriting process while collaborating with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and price insurance policies to ensure compliance with established underwriting guidelines and authority.
  • Leverage underwriting tools to accurately classify risks, determine rates, and establish premium charges.
  • Engage with brokers through various communication channels to gather risk-specific information, negotiate terms, and clarify company positions.
  • Manage a designated underwriting territory, focusing on the performance metrics of assigned brokers.
  • Review and authorize endorsements as necessary.
  • Address premium audit disputes within the assigned territory.
  • Stay informed about state regulations regarding cancellations and non-renewals to ensure compliant business transactions.
  • Analyze and interpret data from various reports and dashboards.
  • Facilitate educational sessions within the department.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree or a combination of three or more years of relevant insurance experience and education.
  • A minimum of three years of underwriting experience with authority, ideally in excess and surplus lines.
  • A solid understanding of the Professional Lines marketplace.
  • A proven history of driving profitable growth.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong relationships with the brokerage community.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary range for this position will be aligned with the candidate's experience. Additionally, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on both company and individual performance, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
