Position Summary: The Full-Time Allergy Nurse will deliver exceptional patient care, including vial preparation, administering allergy injections, and providing patient education, all aimed at achieving the goal of The Ultimate Patient Experience. Prior experience in allergy care is preferred but not mandatory.
Work Schedule: Full-time commitment of 30+ hours per week, with availability required Monday through Friday and rotating Saturdays during business hours. Flexibility to assist in a collaborative team setting is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster a professional and inviting environment to enhance patient service quality.
- Deliver comprehensive care and education to patients in compliance with OSHA standards:
- Administer prescribed tests and treatments, including skin prick and intradermal testing.
- Maintain the immunotherapy room with necessary supplies and ensure cleanliness.
- Administer allergy injections while ensuring the presence of a provider.
- Monitor, document, and report patient vitals and reactions to treatments.
- Assess patient needs and propose solutions to care challenges.
- Oversee the triaging of patient communications.
- Maintain accurate patient records and document all visits in EMR.
- Ensure patients remain for the required observation period post-injection.
- Learn and execute immunotherapy vial mixing procedures in line with current regulations.
- Respond appropriately to patient reactions and notify the physician or clinical staff as necessary.
- Assist providers in documenting treatments, medications, lab requisitions, and obtaining consents within established protocols.
- Understand the patient flow and anticipate the provider's next steps effectively.
- Exhibit clinical proficiency and a solid knowledge base in delivering quality patient care.
- Ensure allergy test sets and emergency kits are stocked and current.
- Verify insurance benefits prior to preparing allergy serums.
- Serve as a mentor and resource for staff.
- Engage regularly with physicians and staff to identify and resolve issues.
- Stay informed about trends and developments in the field through literature and seminars.
- Report any malfunctioning medical equipment to the supervisor.
- Manage inventory responsibilities, including ordering and stocking supplies as needed.
- Participate in all required training and continuing education opportunities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of relevant experience.
- Preferred experience in allergy care.
- Associate or bachelor's degree in nursing required.
- Successful completion of the NCLEX-RN or state-approved equivalent.
- Active Registered Nurse license in the appropriate state (for RN level).
- Proficiency in EMR software and patient scheduling systems.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Excellent patient relations and customer service abilities.
- Open availability for weekday shifts.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA compliance.
Compensation: Hourly pay range of $26—$36 USD.
