Position Summary:

As a Virtual Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a crucial role in ensuring effective communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Your collaboration with educators and support staff will help foster an inclusive educational experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver sign language interpretation during online classes and related activities.
  • Facilitate communication among students, teachers, and school personnel using virtual platforms.
  • Collaborate with the educational team to promote effective inclusion and support for students with hearing challenges.
  • Uphold ethical standards and maintain confidentiality in all interpreting tasks.
  • Assist in adapting individualized learning plans for students with hearing impairments.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL).
  • EIPA certification with a minimum score of 3.5.
  • RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) certification.
  • NIC (National Interpreter Certification) certification.
  • Experience in an educational setting is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
