Reports To: Deck Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Overview: Responsible for teaching students water safety and effective swimming techniques based on the comprehensive Goldfish Swim School curriculum. Under general supervision, ensures the safety of all patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies. Adheres to the required Goldfish Swim School uniform while on duty.
Key Responsibilities: Deliver swim instruction aligned with the Goldfish Swim School curriculum. Enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents, perform rescues, and administer first aid as necessary. Assess students' progress and complete necessary documentation promptly. Communicate with parents/guardians regarding students' swimming skills and development. Serve as a Goldfish Swim School ambassador to ensure parental satisfaction. Utilize problem-solving and creative thinking to address challenges faced by students. Inspect pool areas before and after classes for maintenance, cleanliness, or damage, reporting issues to management as needed. Maintain proper storage of all pool equipment and manage lane lines. Report incidents and accidents to management, completing required documentation. Perform Deck Teacher duties as required. Occasionally carry out light cleaning tasks such as window washing, deck mopping, and trash removal. Attend mandatory workshops and training sessions outside of regular working hours. Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the employer. Maintain constant surveillance of patrons, responding immediately to ensure their safety in emergencies. Communicate facility rules to patrons consistently and fairly. Provide emergency care and treatment until emergency medical services arrive. Ensure that medical services are contacted appropriately in emergencies. Maintain a professional appearance and attitude, upholding high standards of customer service. Complete accident and incident reports as necessary. Ensure cleanliness and safety of the facility as directed. Assist with closing and securing the facility. Carry out other responsibilities as assigned by the employer. Education/Experience: A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, or childcare provider is advantageous. Swimming experience is preferred.
Certificates and Licenses: Lifeguard Shallow Water level Ellis and Associates certification is required; training will be provided.
Work Environment: This position regularly exposes the employee to heat and humidity, with a moderate noise level.
Compensation: $16.00 per hour
