Key Responsibilities

As a Respiratory Therapy Student Technician, you will operate under the guidance of a licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) to provide noninvasive respiratory care and therapy to patients without artificial airways, as directed by the attending physician. You will also conduct noninvasive diagnostic assessments to determine the necessity for and effectiveness of therapy under the supervision of the Supervisor or Charge Therapist.

  • Administer and oversee respiratory therapy treatments.
  • Document relevant information in patient medical records.
  • Conduct noninvasive diagnostic tests, including bedside spirometry, peak flow measurements, inspiratory and expiratory force assessments, vital capacity evaluations, and electrocardiograms (ECG), ensuring accurate recording of results.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of respiratory equipment.
Qualifications

Experience:

  • Less than one year of relevant experience.

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited respiratory care program with completion of at least two semesters. Active student status must be maintained and documented.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required in accordance with St. David's Healthcare policy.
