The Physical Therapist is responsible for assessing and delivering physical therapy services, ensuring accountability for all related duties and modalities. The Physical Therapist also supervises the treatment provided by aides, assistants, and students, while offering education to staff, patients, and families.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough evaluations to determine the need for physical therapy services, validating physician orders, interviewing patients, and performing assessments to create effective treatment plans.
2. Therapeutic Interventions: Initiate and implement therapeutic interventions, regularly assessing their effectiveness and making necessary modifications to enhance patient outcomes.
3. Education and Counseling: Provide guidance and education to patients, families, and caregivers, ensuring they understand the treatment process and objectives.
4. Equipment Management: Recommend, maintain, and calibrate therapeutic equipment according to safety standards and hospital policies, ensuring its proper functioning for patient use.
5. Clinical Documentation: Ensure timely and accurate documentation of patient care, including clinical notes and billing information, while adhering to regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
6. Compassionate Care: Demonstrate empathy and understanding towards patients and their support systems, tailoring interactions to respect their diverse backgrounds and needs.
Qualifications:
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in California.
- AHA Basic Life Support certification.
- Effective communication skills in English.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- Previous experience in an acute care setting is preferred.
- Bilingual skills are advantageous.
