Position Overview

Role: Mathematics Educator (Middle School, Grades 5 to 8)

Compensation: Up to $50 per hour

Reports To: Principal

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to and promote the educational policies and standards established by the administration.
  • Design and implement lesson plans aligned with the school's curriculum framework.
  • Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student learning and progress.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students, parents, and school leadership regarding academic performance and expectations.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators and school staff to enhance student learning outcomes.
  • Manage classroom behavior in accordance with the school's disciplinary guidelines to foster a safe learning environment.
  • Supervise students across various school settings to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Engage in professional development and staff meetings to share and gather important information.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and communications with families.
  • Oversee Homeroom Advisory and Homework Hour, ensuring students are engaged and focused.
  • Create and sustain a positive and engaging classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
  • Prepare a comprehensive Substitute Binder for use during unexpected absences.
  • Regularly update student grades and attendance in the digital record-keeping system.
  • Contribute to the overall operations of the school through various duties and responsibilities.
  • Participate in school events that involve families and the community.
  • Maintain a flexible and cooperative approach to teaching.
  • Teach during the mandatory Summer Program, if required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Dedication to the mission and values of the school.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field.
  • Valid Delaware State Teaching Certificate for the relevant subject and grade levels.
  • At least 1 year of teaching experience or experience working with students in diverse environments.
  • FBI Fingerprinting/Background Clearance is required prior to employment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to engage positively with students, parents, and a variety of stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in technology and Google Workspace applications.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is a plus, but not mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, listen, operate a computer and other office equipment, and occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
