POSITION: Housekeeping and Laundry Operations Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: Housekeeping and Laundry

EXEMPT/ NONEXEMPT: Non-Exempt

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Housekeeping and Laundry Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of the housekeeping and laundry teams. This role ensures a pristine environment for both residents and staff, executing routine cleaning tasks across various areas. Adherence to departmental policies and procedures is essential, with direct reporting to the Administrator.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee daily operations of the Housekeeping and Laundry departments within the Health Care Center.
  • Manage staff schedules and provide coverage as necessary.
  • Conduct timely performance evaluations for team members.
  • Maintain inventory and order necessary supplies for laundry and housekeeping.
  • Coordinate resident transitions, ensuring all areas are cleaned and inspected prior to new arrivals.
  • Perform cleaning duties in resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas.
  • Implement infection control and safety protocols during daily tasks.
  • Uphold confidentiality and respect residents' rights.
  • Adhere to the department's dress code and promote a respectful atmosphere.
  • Ensure safety by keeping floors clear of hazards.
  • Practice proper lifting techniques to prevent injury.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all work areas in accordance with safety policies.
  • Complete additional cleaning tasks as assigned.
  • Fulfill responsibilities outlined in the Laundry Aide Job Description when necessary.
  • Operate within budget constraints for staffing and supplies.
  • Engage in scheduled staff meetings and contribute positively to team dynamics.
  • Foster a culture of excellent customer service.
  • Participate in community and in-house events that enhance resident engagement.
  • Address resident and family concerns, escalating to the Administrator when needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments to achieve common goals.
  • Promote and protect residents' rights.
  • Represent the organization at various social events.
  • Comply with the established dress code.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Assist in training new staff members or ensure proper training is provided.
DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY:
  • Make independent decisions prioritizing residents' best interests.
  • Demonstrate initiative and sound judgment in task execution.
  • Organize and manage workload effectively.
  • Perform repetitive tasks consistently.
  • Evaluate work quality and set priorities accordingly.
REPORTING REQUIREMENTS:
  • Complete incident reports as necessary.
  • Request supplies as needed.
  • Communicate repair needs to supervisors verbally.
EQUIPMENT USAGE:
  • Utilize brooms, mops, vacuum cleaners, and floor care equipment.
  • Occasionally operate a floor buffer.
  • Be proficient in operating all laundry equipment.
INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS:
  • Maintain positive relationships with residents, families, and visitors.
  • Communicate effectively and foster a cooperative spirit among staff.
  • Collaborate efficiently with all departments.
MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Stand and walk throughout the day on hard surfaces.
  • Perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and pushing carts regularly.
  • Lift and move heavy items as needed.
  • Climb ladders as required.
  • Work in a controlled indoor environment.
  • Manage exposure to various odors and conditions.
  • Fulfill physical and mental requirements as outlined in the Laundry Aide Job Description when filling in.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions in English.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Indoors: Well-lit and ventilated areas with potential exposure to falls, odors, and equipment-related injuries. Possible exposure to infectious materials and chemicals.
Outdoors: May encounter varying weather conditions.
