About the role: Diagnostic Imaging Technologist
Position Overview:
As a Diagnostic Imaging Technologist, you will be responsible for capturing high-quality diagnostic images using X-ray machines, CT scanners, and other imaging equipment. You will work closely with physicians, nurses, and patients to ensure accurate assessments and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Interaction and Preparation:
Explain imaging procedures to patients, addressing any concerns or questions. Position patients correctly for optimal image quality. Ensure patient comfort and cooperation during the process.
Imaging Equipment Operation:
Operate X-ray machines, CT scanners, MRI machines, and other specialized equipment. Calibrate and adjust imaging parameters based on the specific study. Follow safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients and yourself.
Image Acquisition and Processing:
Capture high-quality diagnostic images according to physician orders. Process and analyze images to ensure clarity and accuracy. Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to interpret findings.
Quality Control and Maintenance:
Perform routine quality checks on imaging equipment. Troubleshoot technical issues and report malfunctions promptly. Maintain cleanliness and safety of the imaging area.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
Document patient information, procedures performed, and any relevant observations. Keep accurate records of imaging studies. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Professional Development and Continuing Education:
Stay informed about advancements in radiologic technology. Attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions. Maintain certification and licensure.
Requirements:
Education:
Completion of an accredited radiologic technology program (usually an associates degree or higher).
Certification and Licensure:
Must be certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and hold a state license (requirements vary by state).
Skills:
Proficiency in operating X-ray, CT, and other imaging equipment. Knowledge of anatomy, patient positioning, and radiation safety. Strong communication skills for patient interaction and collaboration with healthcare teams.
