Job Responsibilities

The Radiologic Technologist will perform radiographic examinations with minimal oversight, guided by the Radiologist. Daily responsibilities include conducting examinations and handling related administrative tasks.

Key Duties

  • Conducts and assists with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures.
  • Records patient history relevant to the specific procedure on the requisition provided by the physician.
  • Verifies patient identity through verbal confirmation and validation of identification.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media as necessary.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and other medical professionals as needed.
  • Selects and operates equipment according to the requirements of each procedure, demonstrating proper anatomical positioning skills.
  • Keeps accurate records as mandated by departmental protocols.

Physical Requirements

This position requires significant physical effort, including assisting patients from wheelchairs and stretchers, as well as handling equipment and supplies. Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with patients and healthcare staff. The role may involve frequent bending, stretching, twisting, and kneeling while operating radiographic equipment.

Manual dexterity is necessary for handling equipment and providing care to patients. Vision and hearing capabilities for distances up to 10 feet are required. The role may expose the individual to various physical conditions, including walking on hard surfaces and being near moving equipment. Adaptability to changes in temperature and humidity is also necessary.

Qualifications

Applicants must have successfully completed a formal Radiology Technology Program from an accredited institution, possess ARRT registration, and hold Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS HCP) certification from AHA. New graduates must be registry eligible and complete the registry within one year of hire.
