Job Title: Fiber Splicer

Visionary Communications LLC is seeking a skilled Fiber Splicer to join our team. As a Fiber Splicer, you will be responsible for splicing fiber optic cables in both outdoor and indoor settings, reading and creating splicing schematics and diagrams, and maintaining control of outside plant activities surrounding the assigned work site(s).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Splice fiber optic cables, including loose tube, microfiber, ADSS, and ribbon fiber.
  • Construct a proper splice case, including grounding, bonding, isolation, slack storage, and sealing.
  • Prepare and maintain splicing records, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Build graphical worksheets for contractors' use and use drafting techniques in Vetro and other required programs.
  • Understand staking sheets and DOT blueprints.
  • Perform work in accordance with industry standards, including RUS and NEC standards.
  • Read and follow design engineers' instructions and specifications, maintain the scope of work on the project, and adhere to safety procedures.
  • Prepare engineering field notes, interpret buried underground and aerial telecom facilities in records, on maps, and in the field with clarity and detail, and make recommendations for changes in running line or construction methodologies.
  • Enter and maintain outside plant records.
  • Participate in engineering, permit, and construction processes to support project contracts.
  • Perform routine maintenance, recognize and repair route issues, including hand hole cleanup, sign placement, and weed control.
Requirements:
  • 1-3 years of experience with outside plant fiber splicing.
  • Experience working directly with Visionary Communications LLC processes and procedures preferred.
  • Desirable work experience includes field engineering and project lead responsibility.
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft applications.
  • In-depth understanding of technology-based services, products, and networking.
  • Experience in project management a plus.
Compensation:

$25-36 hourly wage.
