We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Assistant Principal to join our team at SH Varsity Acquisitions Sub LLC. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of our special education school, ensuring the implementation of our academic and behavioral programs, and promoting a positive school climate and culture.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with supervising staff and daily operations to ensure adherence to established school policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date educational and counseling documentation/records.
- Support the scheduling of staff and activities in accordance with Virginia Department of Education regulations and accreditation standards.
- Oversee treatment planning for students with disabilities.
- Assist in preparing the campus budget.
- Collaborate with teachers to assess student needs and place them in appropriate classes.
- Develop and implement curriculum guides and support materials.
- Ensure the availability of necessary materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Report student progress to special education directors, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Assist with transportation logistics, including scheduling, safety, and vehicle maintenance.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Collaborate with external agencies to improve services.
- Collect and analyze data to improve service outcomes.
- Organize staff development activities.
- Purchase school materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Manage behavioral crisis situations.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with students and stakeholders.
- Collect quality indicator data.
- Ensure public health, safety, and sanitation standards are met.
- Liaise with Human Resources on complex issues.
- Demonstrate maturity, poise, and a positive attitude in task accomplishment and communication with others.
- Deal courteously with students, families, and staff.
- Respectfully accept suggestions for improving work quality and develop plans to enhance effectiveness and student success.
- Initiate and coordinate efforts with other staff, classrooms, departments, schools, or peers as necessary.
- Foster a positive school climate and culture.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of business and management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, and leadership techniques.
- Knowledge of curriculum and training design, teaching, and instruction.
- Knowledge of customer service principles, including needs assessment, quality standards, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Master's degree in special education and/or school administration and supervision endorsement.
- Minimum of three years working with students with disabilities.
- One-year administrative experience within a special education program (preferred).
- Hold or be eligible for a valid renewable VDOE postgraduate professional teaching license with an endorsement in school administration and supervision or special education.
- Valid Virginia Driver's License.
- Mandt certification.
