IT Systems Engineer

Key Responsibilities:
- Administer IT systems, including the planning, installation, and maintenance of both physical and virtual servers, as well as storage area networks across multiple enclaves.
- Conduct performance monitoring, system tuning, upgrades, patch management, backup and recovery operations, and troubleshoot issues effectively.
- Create and uphold schedules and strategies for system updates and patching.
- Oversee Group Policy Objects management.
- Provide reports on system uptime and Service Level Agreement (SLA) performance.
- Audit server utilization metrics.
- Collaborate in the development, coordination, and maintenance of Risk Management Framework (RMF) Assessment and Authorization (A&A) packages for the managed enclaves.
- Ensure compliance of all application deliverables and systems with applicable DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) or Security Requirements Guidance.
- Identify and communicate system risks effectively.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in systems administration within a Windows environment.
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- IAT Level II certification is essential (e.g., Security+, or other certifications meeting DoD 8570 requirements). Microsoft certifications are advantageous.
- Proficient understanding of Microsoft Windows technologies, including Active Directory, Windows Administration, scripting, and configuration techniques. Familiarity with Windows Server versions 2016, 2019, and 2022; MS SQL Server 2016 and 2019; and VMWare ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, and Horizon.
- Experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining Microsoft Windows servers.
- Proficient in Active Directory and Group Policy Objects management, with the ability to assess server infrastructure and configurations for improvement opportunities.
- Knowledgeable in security protocols related to server infrastructure, desktops, laptops, servers, firewalls, routers, and intrusion detection systems (IDS).
- Familiarity with RMF and STIGs is required.
- Understanding of IT Systems Maintenance Compliance processes, including information assurance vulnerability management (IAVM).
- Experience in creating, reviewing, and updating security documentation and artifacts.
- Proficient in administering servers in a virtualized production environment utilizing VMWare vSphere 7.x or 8.x technology.
- Experience with Storage Area Networks is desirable.
- Familiarity with the DoD IT environment and networks.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with strong analytical skills for troubleshooting and conceptualizing server infrastructures.
