Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced CDL Class B driver to join our team as a Safe Deliveries Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of quartz slabs to customers. As a main point of contact, you will also provide exceptional customer service skills. Additionally, you will assist material handlers with loading orders on trucks and ensure that the vehicle is in optimal working condition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a power unit equipped with a multi-speed transmission safely by adhering to all safety requirements.
  • Perform various duties in the operation of the warehouse department, such as moving slabs, yard organization, and maintenance, in addition to driving the company truck for delivery of quartz slabs.
  • Plan routes to ensure the most economical use of time and equipment.
  • Complete all applicable paperwork and maintain up-to-date driver logs throughout each shift.
  • Gather documentation of ordered materials, delivery, and COD to utilize during routed and scheduled deliveries.
  • Operate a forklift as needed to assist in the yard area.
  • Perform inspections of mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment of the truck unit before, during, and after trips, including gauges, lighting, and electrical systems, and visual checks of potential water, oil, fuel, and air leaks, and refer defects or repairs to the supervisor; keep equipment clean.
  • Assist in the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices.
  • Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Observe and comply with rules and regulations of the Ministry of Transportation and the Highway Traffic Act.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License - Class B, for Short Form Trucks.
  • One (1) year relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job.
  • Knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving.
  • Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment.
  • Must have an excellent safety and compliance record.
  • Must have excellent driving skills.
  • Flexibility to accommodate different start times.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, and the general public.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Able to work with tight deadlines in a multi-task, high-priority environment.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to make independent judgments which have moderate impacts on the organization.

Working Conditions:
  • May be required to drive for many hours at a stretch (within employment standards limitations), including unloading cargo, and making many deliveries.
  • Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors.
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computers and peripherals.
  • Overtime as required with possible weekend work as required.
  • Exposure to variable weather conditions is likely.
  • Ability to lift 100 pounds; ability to regularly perform physical movements:
  • Sitting - long and regular driving hours.
  • Handling/gripping - Handle tools and equipment; grip steering wheel and levers.
  • Climbing up and down stairs/ladders - Climb into cab; Climb onto vehicle to inspect load.
  • Stooping - Occasional stooping during pre- and post-trip inspections and when accessing under vehicle to perform low-inspections.
  • Crouching - During pre- and post-trip inspections to access under vehicle, perform low-inspections.
  • Push/Pull - push and pull safety straps to secure load on vehicle.
