Diagnostic Ultrasound Specialist

This position is for a skilled Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist to work with patients and physicians, operating equipment that uses high-frequency soundwaves to take images and scans of the body's internal organs. The successful candidate will perform technical work in support of Diagnostic Radiology, under the direction of a physician.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate diagnostic ultrasound equipment in the department and in the portable setting.
- Independently perform a wide range of routine and complex ultrasound exams and vascular studies, recognizing the need to make modifications during the examination.
- Coordinate technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in the application of non-ionizing high frequency ultrasonic waves to humans for diagnosis of disease.
- Collaborate on surgical and research procedures under the supervision of a licensed independent practitioner.
- Evaluate the nature of critical and emergency procedures, and rearrange patients scheduled to accommodate them.
- Explain examinations to be performed to patients, ensuring they understand the purpose of the study and any requirements.
- Advise radiologists or referring clinicians of significant abnormalities that require their immediate attention.
Requirements
- Certificate as a Sonographer from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years' current experience in the field, with recent Ultrasound Technologist experience in a hospital setting.
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS)/Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalency.
- Prior VA or military experience is preferred.
- Education: Bachelor's or associate's degree in a related field preferred, or High School Diploma or GED.
Working Conditions
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- May require bending, stooping, and lifting up to 15 lbs.
