We are seeking a Technical Director to join our central engineering team, responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining high-performance services at a global scale for our next-generation games. EA's gaming network supports millions of active users each month.

Key Responsibilities:
- Architect, design, and construct highly scalable services, solutions, platforms, and UI components with exceptional performance.
- Establish technology roadmaps and direction for platforms, products, and features.

- Innovate for simplicity and ease of maintenance.
- Collaborate with distributed cross-functional teams to deliver outstanding player experiences.
- Promote technical excellence among team members through coaching and mentoring.
- Lead and execute company-wide technology initiatives in partnership with other architects.
- Provide accurate deliverable estimates for yourself and assist the team in doing the same.
- Identify and mitigate technology risks early in the development process.
- Offer architectural guidance for Quality Assurance, Load/Performance Testing, Capacity Planning, etc.

- Review designs and code for compliance with architecture, security standards, and coding best practices.
- Advocate for engineering best practices across teams.
- Select appropriate tools and technologies to solve problems efficiently and cost-effectively.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Technology or Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Over 12 years of experience in Java and J2EE technologies, with at least 8 years in building highly scalable distributed systems using Microservices architecture.

- Proficient in Spring, Spring Boot, gRPC, Load Balancing, Caching, Message Buses (Kafka, etc.), AWS Cloud, Kubernetes, Docker, and other essential tools for developing high-performance distributed systems in the cloud.

- Proven experience in designing and deploying high-volume, transaction-based, distributed, and highly available web applications.
- Hands-on experience in creating rich UI applications using JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (such as React, Angular), HTML, and CSS.
- Familiarity with UI tools and testing frameworks.

- Strong understanding of microservices and event-driven architectures.
- Excellent grasp of object-oriented design patterns and principles.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including RDS, Elasticsearch, and Cassandra.
- Knowledge of Kafka, Amazon SNS, Elasticsearch, Redis, etc.

- Experience with DevOps practices, including building CI/CD pipelines using Docker, Jenkins/Gitlab CI, and Kubernetes.
- Exceptional troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Ability to interpret high-level direction, navigate ambiguity, and drive execution in an iterative model.

- Strong capability to translate business requirements into technical designs and architectures.
- Effective communication skills to convey ideas clearly.

Highly Desired Skills:
- Experience with EKS, Terraform, Helm.
- Familiarity with Amazon Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, etc.
- Experience in building and deploying web applications using service mesh (Istio) and its features.
- Knowledge of streaming processing technologies like Kafka Streams, Flink, etc.
