  • $30 - $33 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY

The Practical Nursing Specialist (PNS) provides quality care in accordance with the scope of practice defined by the local state nurse practice act for Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses. The PNS is accountable for assigned tasks, activities, and functions and may delegate duties to others as permitted by their state practice act. The PNS monitors patients as directed by the Health Services Administrator, Director of Nursing, Registered Nurse, or Medical Director.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR PRACTICAL NURSING SPECIALIST

  • Graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing program.
  • Current licensure as a Practical Nurse in the state of employment.
  • Active CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of state laws and regulations governing nursing practice.
  • Successful completion of initial and annual clinical competencies as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF PRACTICAL NURSING SPECIALIST

  • Employs a systematic approach to address the health needs of each patient.
  • Implements nursing care within the PNS's scope of practice, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
  • Assists in creating and executing educational plans tailored to the individual needs of patients, focusing on health promotion, maintenance, and restoration.
  • Provides wound care, including appropriate cleaning and dressing.
  • Administers medications as prescribed.
  • Manages care for multiple patients as directed by the Medical Director, Director of Nursing, or Registered Nurse.
  • Monitors vital signs and communicates changes to the appropriate medical personnel.
  • Documents actions in the Medication Administration Record and medical records.
  • Performs other nursing duties as assigned by the facility.
