Advanced Vascular Sonographer Per Diem/On-Call Position

We are currently seeking an Advanced Vascular Sonographer to join our team in a per diem/on-call position. As an Advanced Vascular Sonographer at Tufts Medical Center, you will be responsible for performing and documenting vascular ultrasound procedures in our Laboratory and Wound Care Center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently perform and document vascular ultrasound procedures
  • Greet and assist patients, prepare and maintain examination rooms
  • Assist in test scheduling and interact with hospital staff to promote appropriate use of laboratory services
  • Perform exercise testing when necessary
  • Modify standard protocols as necessary and document limitations on the patient's written report
  • Review results to determine if it is necessary to notify referring physician based on the Critical Results policy of the lab

Requirements:

  • Credentialed in vascular technology: either RVT (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) or RVS (Cardiovascular Credentialing International)
  • Ability to effectively operate laboratory equipment, including but not limited to ultrasound machines, phlethysmography equipment, and treadmill
  • Ability to evaluate diagnostic information in order to communicate this information to the ordering physician or health care team
  • Ability to follow established hospital and departmental procedures and policies
  • Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow staff members, physician, nurses, students, and other members of the organization

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a hospital-based laboratory with frequent contact with both inpatients and outpatients
  • Some exposure to infectious diseases
  • Strength sufficient to assist with lifting patients, moving heavy equipment and moving patients in wheelchairs and stretchers
