Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Perinatal Registered Nurse to join our team at CHRISTUS Health. As a key member of our Labor and Delivery Department, you will provide high-quality patient care and contribute to a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide routine and complex care to patients in the Labor and Delivery Department, utilizing the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, intervene, and evaluate patient care.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care, taking into account the physical, psychosocial, social, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of patients and their families.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care and effective communication.
  • Administer medications and treatments, monitor patient responses, and document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
  • Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers, identifying issues and resources.
Core Competencies
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to assess patient needs and develop effective plans of care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care.
  • Implement patient care and therapeutic procedures, monitoring and documenting patient progress and teaching goals.
  • Evaluate patient care and treatment, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
Requirements
  • 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty, preferably in Perinatal Nursing.
  • Perinatal RN Residency or recent experience in a Perinatal Setting is preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred.
  • RN License in the state of employment or compact.
  • Current certification from NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) or one of the following AWHONN courses: Intermediate FHM, Intermediate FHM Instructor, Advanced FHM Instructor, or Instructor Trainer.
  • Current ACLS certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Current NRP certification at time of hire.
