Job Summary of the Radiology Technologist

The Radiology Technologist is responsible for performing all technical and clinical duties as a Staff Technologist, under the guidance of the Radiologist and supervision of the Imaging Services Supervisor. This position requires strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities of the Radiology Technologist
  • Conduct all diagnostic and screening imaging procedures, including emergency, surgical, fluoroscopic, and portable procedures.
  • Assist the Radiologist in procedures that require sterile techniques.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media.
  • Evaluate the patient's condition before and during all procedures.
  • Adhere to facility and departmental guidelines (policies and procedures).
  • Engage in Quality/Performance Improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned within the department.
Qualifications of the Radiology Technologist

EDUCATION:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate Degree from an accredited AMA-approved program or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Preferred: At least 1 year of experience in diagnostic imaging.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed Medical Radiologic Technologist by the Texas Medical Board.
  • Registered Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 90 days of hire.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
