About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Referral Coordinator to join our team at University Hospitals. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a critical role in ensuring seamless patient scheduling and referral processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Scheduling: Coordinate patient appointments with UH specialists, programs, and diagnostic testing in a timely manner, ensuring the correct provider and location.
  • Referral Management: Verify and input insurance, appointment, and patient information accurately and efficiently.
  • Communication: Partner with clinical navigators and support teams to facilitate first-call resolution and patient navigation.
  • Knowledge Management: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of computer systems, insurance regulations, and Care Connection policies and procedures.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, responding to patient inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Equivalent/GED and Associate's Degree or progress towards degree (Preferred)
  • Experience: 5+ years of professional healthcare experience or related healthcare position (Required) and experience using Epic application (Preferred)
  • Skills: Flexible, detail-oriented, and organized with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to use PCs, Microsoft Office suite, and general office equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications: Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) and related medical certification (Required)
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of healthcare operations, patient and referring provider satisfaction, and strong understanding of the AIDET/HEAT communication model.
Work Environment

This role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
