Position Overview

The role of a Travel Surgical Technologist is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures. This position requires a certified professional who has successfully completed a CAAHEP-accredited surgical technology program.

Certification Requirements

To qualify, candidates must have:

  • National Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification, obtained through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
Job Details

This is a travel position with the following schedule:

  • Employment type: Travel
  • Shifts: Monday through Thursday, 4-10 hour shifts from 6 AM to 4 PM
  • No on-call duties or weekend shifts
  • Floating to the Main OR may be required
Experience Requirements

Candidates should possess:

  • Experience in Orthopedic and Total Joint procedures is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is preferred.
Key Responsibilities

Surgical Technologists play a vital role in the operating room, including:

  • Preparing the surgical environment, ensuring a sterile field, and setting up necessary surgical instruments and supplies.
  • Assisting the surgical team by passing instruments, fluids, and supplies during procedures.
  • Managing the sterile field and handling specimens with care.
  • Conducting counts of sponges and supplies to prevent any retained foreign objects.
Additional Information

All surgical technologists must maintain their certification through ongoing education and adherence to professional standards.
