Pouring and Ladle Repair Technician

Waukesha Foundry is seeking a skilled Pouring and Ladle Repair Technician to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for pouring molten metal into molds and repairing ladles to ensure efficient and safe operation of our foundry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Pouring:
    • Properly prepare molds for pouring, ensuring accurate weight and clamp placement
    • Inspect sprues and risers for debris and correct positioning
    • Read and follow master sheets for specific pouring instructions
    • Employ proper pouring techniques, including even stream pouring and proper riser height
    • Remove gas and debris during pouring
    • Place hot topping and heat tags after pouring
    • Remove clamps and weights when cool
  • Ladle Repair:
    • Repair or replace ladle linings, including safety liners
    • Make ceramic pots for hand shanks
  • General:
    • Operate hoists and forklifts safely
    • Read and understand master sheets and measuring devices
    • Work safely in a team environment
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area
    • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Skills: Basic arithmetic functions, reading and understanding shop paperwork
  • Abilities: Use direct reading and fixed gauges, work with percentages and decimals, achieve forklift certification
  • Physical Requirements: Lift up to 75 lbs, stand for long periods, work in a hot environment
  • Working Conditions: Normal foundry atmosphere
