We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at MercyOne Dubuque/Dyersville Medical Center. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and working collaboratively with our healthcare team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Responsibilities:- Consult with and assist physicians and nurses with respiratory care plans for patients.
- Evaluate patients and assess the appropriateness and quality of respiratory care.
- Review, collect, and evaluate relevant clinical data.
- Communicate changes in the respiratory care plan with other healthcare team members.
- Provide effective education to patients, students, co-workers, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Participate in orientation of new staff members.
- Perform both fundamental and advanced diagnostic procedures, including oximetry measurement, capnography, arterial puncture, mechanical ventilation waveform analysis, and pulmonary function testing.
- Perform emergency and acute respiratory care procedures in accordance with evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in departmental quality assurance and hospital-wide organizational performance improvement activities.
- Maintain clinical and professional competency based upon established standards of practice.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program.
- Must be registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care or within six months of hire.
- Must be licensed as an RCP in the State of Iowa.
- Experience in another healthcare setting desirable, with critical care experience preferred.
- Maintain current BLS, NRP, and Mandatory Reporter certification.
