The Engineering Manager plays a pivotal role in driving plant operations to achieve excellence in Quality, Efficiency, Safety, and Financial performance. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this individual is responsible for overseeing all Engineering efforts to ensure seamless plant operations.


Key Responsibilities

Resource and Department Management:

  • Effectively manage resources to meet production goals within budgeted costs.
  • Maintain and manage inventory to ensure optimal equipment uptime.
  • Identify required spare parts and establish inventory levels for cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors and contractors.
  • Provide regular budget updates and insights into contributing factors.
  • Understand cost drivers and implement initiatives for cost reduction.
  • Develop and execute Capital Projects to align with company objectives and ensure plant reliability.
  • Manage both Capital and Non-Capital projects to meet objectives on time and within budget.
  • Establish and track KPIs to ensure departmental alignment with plant goals.
  • Develop and maintain accurate reporting for the management team.
  • Implement corrective actions for downtime and waste events.
  • Enhance Preventive Maintenance processes within the PM software.
  • Monitor and evaluate equipment to assess the effectiveness of the PM program.


People and Organization:

  • Build and manage a high-performing team, including Supervisors, Leads, Clerks, and Technicians.
  • Provide effective leadership, performance management, and skills development for department personnel.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, including food processing regulations and safety protocols.
  • Set clear expectations for department personnel and maintain necessary documentation for compliance.
  • Oversee all safety activities, including training, program development, machine-specific LOTO, equipment evaluations, and more.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in maintenance and people management.
  • Food manufacturing experience a plus.
  • Proficiency in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • PLC troubleshooting experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures for various equipment and machines.
