Exercise Physiologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Exercise Physiologist to join our Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team at McDonough District Hospital. As an Exercise Physiologist, you will play a vital role in planning, organizing, and implementing medically prescribed cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation programs.

• Education and Experience: A Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology or a related field is required. You should have knowledge of dysrhythmias and 12-lead EKG interpretation. Certification as an Exercise Specialist by the American College of Sports Medicine is preferred. ACLS certification is also required. One year of experience in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation and exercise leadership is necessary.
• Job Knowledge: You should have basic reading and math skills, as well as clerical, record-keeping, medical terminology, and basic patient care skills. You should also be familiar with regulatory standards, safety, and infection control, and hospital procedures. Effective communication and telephone etiquette are essential.
• Abilities, Interests, and Temperaments: You should be able to work with a variety of patients of all populations, including those with developmental disabilities, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, and diagnosis or procedure-specific patients such as those with congestive heart failure or cesarean delivery. You should also be able to comply with department-specific controls implemented to reduce the risk of acquiring and transmitting infections within the healthcare setting.
