Job Overview:

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Project Engineer provides essential technical support to supervisors and trades, ensuring that all construction activities adhere to relevant standards, codes, and specifications.

In this capacity, the Project Engineer operates under the guidance of the Project Manager, demonstrating familiarity with responsibilities and executing them in alignment with company values and standards. Regular meetings with the Project Manager and Project Executive will be held to assess progress and ensure objectives are met.

KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety:

  • Assists in conducting Occupational Health Assessments (OHAs).
Project Planning:
  • Assists in creating scope review checklists for subcontractor procurement.
  • Coordinates activities with subcontractors and trade superintendents.
  • Develops project critical path schedules.
  • Supports the project team with long-term forecasting.
  • Conducts schedule analysis.
Project Control:
  • Drafts Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Investigates and resolves design discrepancies, omissions, and errors.
  • Identifies and documents scope changes, including research and estimation.
  • Represents the company in discussions with owners and subcontractors.
Cost Management:
  • Collects data necessary for pricing.
  • Estimates items for change orders.
  • Understands owner contracts.
  • Analyzes cost management reports.
  • Provides insights to the project team regarding cost management.
  • Reviews and approves subcontractor payment applications.
  • Assists in preparing owner payment applications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret safety regulations and company policies.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical documents.
  • Knowledgeable in project engineering and cost control, with the ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems relevant to construction.
SAFETY POLICIES AND PRACTICES:
The individual in this role must be well-versed in and adhere to the company's safety policies and procedures as outlined in the safety manual.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
LEED AP, BD+C certification is preferred.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field, along with a combination of technical training and experience. The Project Engineer typically has between 2 to 6 years of experience in project cost accounting, controls, or engineering related to similar construction projects.
