About the Role

We are seeking a Part-Time Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician to join our team in the Stem Cell Transplant unit 6 West at UPMC Shadyside.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, including assisting with daily living activities, performing point-of-care testing, and maintaining a safe and clean environment.
  • Acquire, distribute, and manage supplies and equipment, and handle ordering and stocking of patient care items.
  • Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, provide feedback to RNs, and maintain professional relationships.
  • Document patient information accurately and complete clerical tasks, adhering to safety policies and standard precautions.
  • Respond to emergent situations and provide one-on-one supervision and companionship to patients.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of experience or enrollment in a PT/OT/PA program or related healthcare training program with completion of at least one clinical rotation.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Act 34 clearance.
