Position Overview

Community Hospital Corporation is in search of a seasoned and proactive Chief Financial Officer for Morehouse General Hospital. This role, based in Bastrop, LA, involves steering the financial strategy and operations of the hospital while ensuring alignment with its mission, vision, and regulatory standards.

The CFO evaluates the financial health of the organization and produces regular financial and operational reports. This position is also responsible for directing financial planning, revenue management, payroll, and accounting practices, while overseeing treasury functions, budgeting, audits, taxation, procurement, real estate, and insurance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation standards and internal policies.
  • Contribute to the development of the strategic plan and objectives that promote the hospital's growth and service delivery to the community.
  • Financial Oversight: Participate in creating and managing operating, project, and capital budgets. Ensure effective risk management and financial controls are in place, meeting critical financial metrics.
  • Operational Leadership: Analyze data from various sources to assess current financial practices and identify areas for improvement. Implement changes to enhance financial operations.
  • Staff Management: Ensure the availability of qualified staff, including physicians and contract labor, who are properly trained and engaged. Oversee performance management systems to recognize excellence and address performance issues.
  • Community Engagement: Collaborate with community leaders to evaluate healthcare needs and promote hospital services. Actively engage in community service to enhance the hospital's image.

Additional Duties

  • Commit to high-quality patient care and continuously measure and report quality outcomes.
  • Maintain all necessary hospital accreditations and licenses in good standing.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, acting swiftly to implement required changes.

Supervisory Role

  • Manage subordinate managers and individual contributors as appropriate.
  • Provide direction and evaluation for all supervised units.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and develop staff capabilities.
  • Address issues and resolve conflicts effectively.

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of healthcare finance practices, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Expertise in financial management, accounting systems, risk management, and healthcare contracting.
  • Proven leadership skills with a focus on strategic management and quality improvement.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Minimum of a BS/BA in finance, accounting, or a related field; CPA designation preferred. A graduate degree is advantageous.
  • 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in hospital finance and accounting, with prior experience as a CFO.
