Surgical Support Assistant

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is seeking a skilled Surgical Support Assistant to join our team of dedicated professionals. As a key member of the perioperative team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare operating rooms for assigned cases, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
- Anticipate and deliver sterile equipment and supplies as needed, communicating effectively with the perioperative team.
- Conduct inventory of reusable and disposable sterile supplies, reporting stock shortages to supervisors and supply clerks.
- Assist during surgery, acquiring supplies, sterilizing equipment, and gowning procedures, as well as assisting nurses and physicians with scrubs and sterilization clothing.
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement activities, contributing to data collection, problem identification, and resolution.
- At least 2 years of experience as a Perioperative Assistant or Central Processing Tech, preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to operate patient care equipment.
- Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry medium to heavy weights throughout the day.
- Ability to work with acutely ill patients and their families in crisis.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
