Technical Research Coordinator

Location: Dahlgren, VA

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Library Science, Historic Preservation, or Humanities with a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in research assistance, library sciences, historic preservation, or technical information management.
  • U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
  • Possession of a current Secret Clearance is essential.
  • A valid U.S. Driver's License is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the ongoing management of a technical library collection, which includes the development of documents, cataloging, processing, circulation, and the disposal of materials.
  • Conduct thorough research for technical reference inquiries utilizing both online and traditional research methodologies.
  • Access and utilize various government document repositories, including but not limited to the Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) and the Technical Data Management Information System (TDMIS).
  • Provide reference assistance and maintain both print and digital collections, as well as subscriptions, including accounts for federal library networks.
  • Digitize documents, catalog images, and create or index metadata.
  • Offer technical library support to various departments, including Innovation Labs.
  • Assist in the customization and modification of integrated library system software, ensuring user-friendly access to inventory and repositories.
  • Notify management of any issues with existing library systems and provide analysis along with suggested solutions.
  • Manage controlled inventory services for classified materials.
  • Establish and uphold an archival process in line with the National Archives and Records Administration for the organization and retrieval of both physical and digital artifacts.
  • Research and acquire artifacts from national archives and other relevant repositories.
  • Engage with the community to gather artifacts, document organizational history through research and interviews, curate heritage exhibits, and facilitate the distribution of materials to appropriate repositories.
