Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate Daily Activities: Oversee the daily activities and distribution of work in the assigned nursery, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Resource to Primary RN/Physicians: Serve as a resource to Family Center Care nurses regarding the care of infants, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Observation and Care: Provide primary care to border babies, observing and caring for them while in the nursery.
  • Special Procedures: Assist primary RN/Physicians in special procedures, such as blood cultures, diagnostic workups, and LPs, as needed.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with Charge Nurses throughout each shift, ensuring seamless communication and coordination of care.
  • Work Assignments: Collaborate with primary FCC Teams regarding work assignments, ensuring that normal routine care is handled by the primary team.
  • Admission and Discharge: Assist with the admission and discharge process as needed, ensuring a smooth transition for patients and families.
  • Circumcision Pre-Op Checklist: Ensure that the circumcision pre-op checklist is completed accurately, guaranteeing that all necessary steps are taken to ensure patient safety.
  • Circumcision Support: Assist primary FCC Teams with circumcisions, providing support and guidance as needed.
  • Nursery Area Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance of the nursery area, ensuring that it is compliant with Infection Control policies and that all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Staff Competency: Verify the competency of unit staff annually and ongoing, ensuring that all team members are equipped to provide high-quality care.
  • Staff Orientation: Assist with the orientation of new staff, providing guidance and support to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Participation in Hospital Committees: Participate in staff meetings and other hospital committees as needed, contributing to the development of policies and procedures that enhance patient care.
  • Service Excellence: Demonstrate service excellence behaviors routinely in encounters with all customers, including coworkers, patients, visitors, physicians, and ancillary staff.
Requirements:
  • Education and Licensure: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years' full-time experience as a RN post-orientation or post-residency training in Level I, II, or III nursery; newborn; NICU, and/or Mother/Baby units.
  • Certifications: Certified in Neonatal Resuscitation and American Heart Association's Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
  • Continuing Education: Proof of annual continuing education credits and/or hours in newborn care, minimum of 16 hours/credits within the past 2 years.
