About the Role
We are looking for a Telecommunications Planning Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role involves leading and contributing to various telecommunications initiatives within the electric distribution and transmission sectors. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in the ongoing privatization of our telecommunications system over the next several years.
Key Responsibilities
As a Telecommunications Planning Engineer, you will:
1. Develop both straightforward and intricate telecommunications projects based on a defined complexity score.
2. Collaborate with Telecom Engineering to manage engineering outsourcing for non-complex projects.
3. Coordinate with Resource Planning or Project Management to facilitate construction implementation.
4. For complex projects, create comprehensive project documentation that outlines the business case and necessity for each initiative.
5. Present project complexity assessments during review meetings and collaborate with management and colleagues on findings and recommendations.
6. Conduct site visits and field inspections to gather essential information regarding assets.
7. Utilize strategic asset management principles to prioritize assets and assess risks.
8. Engage in research of new technologies and innovative solutions to enhance project outcomes.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in telecommunications within a regional or national company.
- A Bachelor of Science degree is preferred; however, an Associate of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience will be considered.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
