POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is dedicated to the facilitation, development, negotiation, and execution of energy service projects within competitive markets. The engineer will collaborate with marketing representatives to enhance end-user sales and identify opportunities for facility improvements. Responsibilities include guiding projects from technical evaluation to contract execution and construction, depending on project scope. This position conducts preliminary feasibility assessments and investment-grade audits as necessary, partnering with engineering and construction teams to implement solutions. Key responsibilities encompass scope definition, financial evaluation, technical specification development, contract negotiation, construction oversight, and performance verification as dictated by project requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Skills)
  • Education: A degree in engineering from an accredited institution is required, with a preference for Mechanical Engineering. Professional Engineer and Certified Energy Manager licenses are advantageous.
  • The ideal candidate will possess substantial engineering experience with a focus on selling energy service projects, particularly in HVAC systems and general mechanical and electrical systems.
  • A minimum of three years' experience in designing and implementing energy efficiency and conservation solutions in HVAC, controls, lighting, water conservation, electrical systems, and building envelope enhancements, particularly in industrial and large commercial sectors, as well as experience in municipal, educational, and healthcare markets.
  • Preferred experience includes mechanical systems design, equipment selection, and application of large HVAC systems, process heating, boilers, and indoor lighting systems.
  • Proven project management skills with a strong track record of adhering to construction schedules and budget management.
  • Demonstrated ability in customer service and relationship development.
  • Experience in drafting and responding to RFQs and RFPs for energy-related projects is essential.
  • Preferred skills include delivering presentations at various stages of customer project development.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills, including effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders, contractors, and management.
  • Proven ability to identify customer challenges, devise solutions, and negotiate favorable outcomes professionally in energy-related projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (Primary duties of the position)
  • Collaborate with a dynamic technical sales team to develop energy conservation initiatives primarily for industrial and commercial clients.
  • Compile, develop, finance, and price projects based on bids from design professionals, contractors, or other external sources.
  • Act as the primary liaison between clients, contractors, and vendors post-sales during the implementation of energy projects.
  • Oversee various aspects of energy project development, including customer contract negotiations, project execution, and performance assurance tailored to specific project needs.
  • Adhere to all company processes and procedures related to energy services.
  • Ensure high-quality work and customer satisfaction, providing feedback to the company and vendors.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to devise strategies for electric end-use equipment sales and energy efficiency programs to meet evolving customer needs.
  • Establish strong working relationships with architects, engineers, vendors, and other consultants.
