Role Summary

The Assistant Nurse Manager operates under the general oversight of the Clinical Nurse Manager, taking responsibility for the provision of patient care services that align with the organization's strategic objectives and ensure high standards of clinical and service quality within a designated clinical unit or care delivery site. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the quality of clinical services, overseeing nursing staff performance, and establishing systems that facilitate effective multidisciplinary teamwork and continuity of care.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist in managing and assessing the care delivery system and clinical services across one or more patient care units to achieve clinical and service quality targets alongside the Nurse Manager.
  2. Take a leadership role in ensuring the quality of services at the unit level.
  3. Oversee human and financial resources to meet budgetary goals and achieve defined outcomes.
  4. Develop and execute clinical utilization strategies that support clinical pathways, discharge planning, and case management.

Qualifications

Licensure Requirements

  • Must hold a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maryland or be eligible for licensure through Compact state agreements as outlined by the Maryland Board of Nursing.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required; a Master's degree with management coursework is preferred. Candidates are expected to enroll in an accredited graduate program within one year of employment and complete the degree within five years.

Professional Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of recent experience in an acute care setting, including at least one year in a clinical specialty.
