Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Support Specialist to join our team at UNC Health Care.

This is a full-time position with a standard 36 hour workweek and an estimated annual salary of $35,147.64 - $51,177.94 based on the location in Lenoir, NC and the level of experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist professional caregivers in delivering patient care, transporting patients and equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and performing clerical tasks.
  • Critically review patient care documentation for any significant changes in the patient's condition and report them immediately to registered nurses or physicians.
  • Provide various clerical tasks including organizing workload, greeting visitors, researching information requested by nurses and physicians, reviewing orders for logic and clarity, revising orders as requested by nurses, answering phones and patient call lights, transcribing physician orders, and maintaining medical records.
  • Perform routine quality assurance audits, safety checks, and inventory of supplies.
  • Provide administrative and clerical support including PI audits and data entry.
  • Assist in the orientation of new employees and students.
  • Provide direct personal care to patients including bathing, dressing, feeding, assisting with ambulation, measuring and recording vital signs, and patient height and weight.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Listed as a Nursing Assistant I by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Prior experience not required but preferred.
