Position Overview:
This is a dual-role position encompassing responsibilities as both a Unit Secretary and a Nursing Assistant. The Unit Secretary is tasked with overseeing general office management, clerical duties, and providing reception services within the nursing unit. This role is crucial for facilitating order entry and processing, as well as coordinating administrative support activities. The Nursing Assistant will deliver patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, ensuring adherence to nursing policies and organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communication and Customer Service:
Welcome and assist patients and visitors, demonstrating professional communication skills. Handle phone inquiries promptly and accurately, ensuring effective message delivery. - Order Management:
Support healthcare professionals in the accurate entry and processing of computer orders, ensuring timely communication of new orders and alerts. - Chart Management:
Maintain organized patient charts, ensuring all documentation is complete and accessible. Prepare charts for admissions, transfers, and discharges. - Patient Care Duties:
Provide compassionate care to patients, including assistance with daily activities, hygiene, and nutrition. Monitor vital signs and report any changes to the nursing staff. - Documentation:
Accurately document patient care activities in compliance with established policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification (Required)
- Certified Nurse Aide or Certified Nursing Assistant preferred
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- 0-1 years of relevant experience in an acute care setting or as a student nurse with clinical experience
