Job Overview

Millerbernd Manufacturing is seeking a Lead Maintenance Technician to oversee our maintenance operations on the 1st shift. This role is pivotal in providing strategic guidance to the maintenance team, ensuring the effective upkeep and repair of machinery, equipment, and facilities across all production areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and support ongoing preventive maintenance initiatives.
  • Engage in machinery repairs and coordinate with external service providers as necessary.
  • Supervise maintenance personnel and manage all maintenance tasks within the designated area, collaborating with operational leaders.
  • Facilitate Tier board meetings for the maintenance team.
  • Communicate organizational priorities and clarify policies as needed.
  • Complete timecards, conduct performance evaluations, and provide input on compensation for maintenance staff.
  • Manage and prioritize maintenance and repair requests across various production facilities.
  • Offer technical support through training and troubleshooting for maintenance and production staff.
  • Interpret operational manuals, manufacturer specifications, blueprints, and schematics for equipment.
  • Provide expertise in electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, machining, and fabrication, traveling to plants as required.
  • Stay updated on all safety regulations, including OSHA standards and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Train maintenance personnel on proper equipment care and repair techniques.
  • Assist in diagnosing equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintain accurate records of machine repairs.
  • Guide workers in the disassembly, assembly, and installation of equipment.
  • Support the procurement and management of spare parts while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Recommend improvements to enhance equipment performance.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with blueprints and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a leadership role is preferred; other combinations of training and experience will be considered.
  • Experience in maintenance within a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with Preventive Maintenance (PM) Programs.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to team success.
  • Strong prioritization and multitasking skills, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Proficient in interpreting blueprints and mechanical drawings.
  • Basic math skills are essential.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
