Job Title: First Shift Security Officer

About the Job:

We are seeking a highly skilled and reliable Security Officer to join our team at a government building in Madison, WI. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for patrolling and securing the premises, identifying potential risks to staff and patrons, and responding to emergencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrol and monitor assigned areas to ensure the safety and security of staff and patrons
  • Report suspicious activities to local authorities and take necessary action to prevent incidents
  • Monitor surveillance cameras and inspect property to identify potential security risks
  • Respond to emergencies and contact law enforcement or fire department as needed
  • Check doors, windows, and gates to ensure the property is secure after business hours
  • Investigate reports of suspicious activity and take necessary action to resolve the situation
  • Reasonably detain individuals suspected of criminal activity until law enforcement arrives
  • Escort discharged staff, trespassers, and other unwelcome parties off the premises

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Security guard training certification preferred
  • Previous experience as a security officer or in a related field is a plus
  • Excellent observational skills and attention to detail
  • Authoritative verbal communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations
