Senior Cellular Systems Engineer

Sunnyvale, California, United States Apple Full time

We're seeking an exceptional Cellular Systems Engineer to spearhead the development of cutting-edge 5G/4G firmware.

This role offers a unique opportunity to craft sophisticated embedded firmware that drives performance in our products, working within a silicon design group focused on creating and productizing advanced cellular System-on-Chips (SoCs).

You'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and verifying Cellular Layer 1 control firmware for a revolutionary mobile wireless communications system. Key tasks include developing scheduling and control algorithms, meeting strict deadlines, and optimizing code for cycle, latency, and energy efficiency.

Collaboration is key – you'll work with global teams and colleagues to optimize solutions, as well as with other firmware and software designers to define interfaces with RF, physical layer, MAC/RRC, and other required processor subsystems.

To succeed in this role, you'll need a strong background in software engineering principles and computer science fundamentals. Proficiency in C programming and source code control tools is essential, along with experience in bare metal embedded FW development or Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and parallel computing.

Familiarity with wireless/cellular/satellite software or firmware development is also crucial. A solid understanding of computer architecture, particularly HW/SW interfaces of high-speed communication subsystems, will give you a competitive edge.

A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, combined with 10+ years of relevant industry experience, is preferred. However, we encourage applications from candidates with alternative backgrounds and qualifications who can demonstrate their ability to excel in this role.

As part of our commitment to employee satisfaction, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, discounted products and services, and reimbursement for certain educational expenses. This role comes with a base pay range of $175,800 to $312,200, and opportunities to become an Apple shareholder through our discretionary employee stock programs.
