Empowering Communities through Disaster Response

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Deputy Regional Disaster Officer to join our team at the American Red Cross. As a key member of our disaster response team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful implementation of our disaster cycle services program throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Disaster Response Efforts: Oversee the implementation of disaster response operations in the region, ensuring that services are delivered in a rapid, accessible, and equitable manner to meet the urgent needs of our clients.
  • Empower Volunteers: Direct a team of employees and volunteers responsible for disaster services programming, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Develop Regional Capacity: Champion the development of regional disaster leadership volunteers, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to respond to disasters and emergencies.
  • Engage Communities: Lead regional efforts to prepare and mobilize communities, engaging partners and stakeholders to build resilience and response capacity.
  • Manage in a Matrix: Build relationships and collaborate with internal partners, including employees and volunteers, to achieve shared goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years of related experience, with 5 years of management experience of paid or volunteer workforce.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills.
